Schooling without education

FAULT most fundamental in the development of education in the history of modern Indonesia is a narrow education just mere schooling. Increasing the education budget (in 2014 reached Rp 80 T) is allocated to expand school system. Non-formal education, informal education especially within the family home, subordinated to not scalable, does not have a standard (see terms technocratic minimum service standards), and are therefore not considered qualified. Children who never went to school (as a child of the jungle) directly considered uneducated and unsophisticated.

Schooling transform learning as natural processes of education into a commodity service. Once learning requires schooling, education was scarce by direct definition. Ivan Illich has shown vividly in the late 1960s that the massive U.S. schooling system ala the superpower when it has failed to deliver universal education for its own citizens. That occurred from massive schooling system that is massive miseducation. This is true also in Indonesia enters the second decade of the 21st century, about 50 years later. I believe, noticed a lot of the latest facts of education in Indonesia, our current education problems is too much schooling, not the lack of it.
The most disadvantaged of this school system is poor, especially those living in rural and remote areas. This conclusion is not intuitive and not popular, but indeed it is. Schools are very biased middle class urban life in industrial settings. This is the sociological roots that lead to global urbanization over the last hundred years, including in Indonesia. Actually there is no "disadvantaged areas" because what really happens is "abandoned areas" young people to urban areas.
Evidence of massive miseducation that include the national examination (unas) as the culmination of the symptoms that idolize sekolahisme schooling. Cheating in the form of mass cheating on a massive scale and systemic, involving teachers and education bureaucrats. Sing Ajur honest. Unas is designed to help determine students' graduation from a school has didaku as a tool to improve the quality of national education. Simultaneously used as a tool to map the performance quality. However, the results of the international torch trusted as Programme in International Student Assessment (PISA), Trends in International Maths and Science Studies (TIMSS), and The Learning Curve of Economic Intelligence Unit shows that the performance of the education we stopped at the bottom: we poor literacy and capability Indonesian children low in terms of higher order thinking such as problem solving.
As symptoms Kemendikbud then react with the launch of the curriculum in 2013. Curriculum recently proposed as a refinement of unit-level education curriculum (SBC) and formulated as part of efforts to enlarge the school system: students stay in school prolong; extend schooling to a higher level; and improve the effectiveness of learning through curriculum changes, teacher training, as well as the improvement of school facilities and infrastructure. In short, Kemendikbud believe that the increase of schooling is a recipe to ensure a demographic dividend that will happen in the next 5-15 years. In my opinion, the policy framework is wrong and will produce a bill demographics.
The failure of the school system even more obvious in this internet age. Internet is being tore down the walls of the school. Before the advent of the internet, never actually learning requires teachers and curriculum experts technocrats elaborate design, let alone the formalism of schooling.
Original learning is an inside-out process, the growth of talents, interests, and capacities unique child. School attendance then would damage the natural processes and spontaneous and making formalistic, manipulative, and rigid and outside-in full-uniformity that eliminates the uniqueness of the child. Competence and assessment materials formulated by curriculum planners and labor market, not by the learners themselves. Sir Ken Robinson has recently asserted that the school system is the institution most responsible for the human resources crisis in the 20th century. We can not do mental revolution using standardization mentality-style schooling.
Like a car, in fact we never need schools. We just want it, even addicted to school. School confuse learning with schooling. Then we confuse competence with the title, piety with houses of worship, order the police station, the mobility of the car, and the contents of the wrapper. Like a car anyway, many schools only place to boast over our social status. As a result, we are increasingly , but not getting educated while increasingly fragmented society and our social cohesion modestly.

Looking ahead, expectations are mental revolution that echoed the presidential candidates in the 2014 presidential election can not rest on our school system. We just need to reduce the formalism of schooling, and then expand learning opportunities through a network of non-formal and informal learning. Especially through the strengthening of the family as a learning node is first and foremost. We need to restore the task of educating young people in the family home as well as strengthen the educational unit into a productive unit. The strength of this nation should not be  in school, but to his family.
